This song is like a virtual hug. Like it’s saying “I know everything sucks right now, it’ll all work out. It’ll be okay.” It’s a weird feeling that I can describe as sad, melancholy, comforting, nostalgic, optimistic, calming, empty, but also complete at the same time. One of my favorites by gorillaz and I’ll forever love it.

Recently just got into a really bad fight with my ex. The first thing that I did after crying was come to this song. She never understood my love and obsession with Gorillaz and that's too bad for her. I'm glad I kept something so safe and sacred for me to myself. This song has gotten me through bad times, a breakup with a long friend, failing classes because I don't understand the material, the pandemic, and now this awful long running break up. This song is like seeing a loved one for the first time in a long time. The instant dopamine rushing into you seeing someone you cared about so much, giving that person a hug and them telling you that they're proud and they love you. You are so incredibly happy to be with them and then you get nostalgic thinking about all the good times you had with that person. Then you get sad because you realize you grew apart after quite some time. However, you now know how lucky you are to see that person again. That is what this song is for me. I will always love Gorillaz even when I become even more cynical from the world. 2D, Murdoc, Noodle, and Russel are more than just silly cartoon characters in a fake band. To me they are family, people I can always go to when I need them the most, they are my loved ones. Thank you Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett, without you guys I wouldn't have my forever family; even if they are just silly cartoon characters that accompany songs. ❤❤❤❤❤❤
At least you kept Gorillaz for yourself. I unfortunately shared it with my ex girlfriend and after a probably equally long and brought breakup, this song only brings bitter feelings to me because I can't come back to them and say I am proud and love them anymore.

My dad used to play this video for me every night to bed and this now still is my favorite song and music video good times man
The painful nostalgia in this is almost unbearable for me. I always remember watching this music video with my Mum, it was around 2010, back when Channel 4 used to premiere new music videos late at night... Me and Mum used to always stay up late together, putting the world to rights. She died in 2014. I miss her every single day. I’m more or less alone now. Don’t have anyone now, really. So yeah, listening to this song always brings that moment back, I’m back with my Mum for just a few moments. It can be a painful listen if I’m not ready for it... it’s weird how music can hold so much.

My dad and I used to just sit in his car and drive around listening to Gorillaz, Coheed and Cambria, and Circa Survive and just talk. Every time I hear songs from these bands I just think of him and I can't help but smile. My dad is, has always been, and always will be my best friend.

The whole Gorillaz project is so inspirational, I always feel like they were far ahead of its time both acording to visual and grapic design but also when it comes to music production. Yea in general for sure but they also have had a lot of criticism whenever they tried something new where people wanted them to go back to their roots. Here is where a lot of artists tend to fall back and play it safe and radio-friendly. Wheter it's the right or wrong decision comes down to every single individual, since music is subjective.
"no matter what the critics have to say" All of their albums have come out to pretty much universal critical acclaim.
This is the song I used to listen during high school when I had suicidal thoughts and was heavily depressed. It helped me escape reality for a few minutes. When I listened to this live at Les Vieilles Charues, joy tears were running down my face.

This was my favorite song growing up, and I would listen to it with my dad whenever we went ANYWHERE in the car even for a 5 minute drive to a friends house this is so nostalgic
The mixed use of animation styles in the video are a great addition. For me it helps to show the different emotions portrayed in this song, and the bands connection to music throughout different time periods.
Gorillaz are one of the greatest bands in music history because they aren't afraid to experiment with so many different genres, animation styles, outfits, stories, and even characters, I think it's part of what makes them such a perfect band
