I've been bumpin' since Clint Eastwood ran on MTV. The best thing (of many, many great things) to me is that one day, one song that you've skipped or just thought meh.. will catch you at the right time, right mood, the perfect need and it fills your mind and body with a fix. 20+ years and it still happens.

Clint Eastwood burned itself into my mind when little me was checking out TV channels at my grandmas and found out about MTV for the first time.

This song has this familiar feeling to it when you hear it first time, but its a proper Gorillaz song. Gorillaz never died, some songs were liked more some were less but Gorillaz are always trying new posibilites and sounds that simply fits their songs. People need to realize that no song is a like for the Gorillaz band and they never really had their own theme.
They're one of those bands you can't really put in a box. I seem to gravitate to those. Like Tub Ring. Or Ghost. Hmm. A Gorillaz/Ghost collab would probably be freaky.
the whole thing with gorillaz is the fact that every song is different and almost all of them are collars with other artists using different styles

Okay, long post aheaaad!! I'd just like to thank Gorillaz... They're music is awesome, they're style is awesome, they drew the line between reality and animation in the music industry being an animated band. They're just different in every way possible. Speaking of animation, I'm glad the makers didn't somehow "perfect" their features. Truly, I'm glad. I've been so insecure of my looks and when I looked up to Gorillaz's members, I realized they have their own imperfections by looks too... I've been meaning to change something about me and my looks, but the only thing I needed to change was my perspective. Like the band members, I've got a strange nose shape that everyone in my family has been bullying me of, now I don't care about their insults! Also like the band members, my teeth's all messed up... Seeing their teeth, I realized it's really okay to not have perfect teeth but still keep up w/ hygiene ofc hehe. I once got caught up with Advil overdose and been keeping it cause ppl may think I've got a crack in my head, then 2D comes in saying he likes painkillers... It's a different thing yes, but quite the same concept ig? Haha Overall, Gorillaz is still one of the hottest bands around, the most precious one too! Different at best!

(Seattle Yodel doesn't count as a "song" despite technically being a track, it's just the outro to _The Fall.)_ Even when it comes to songs I originally hated like _Sex Murder Party,_ hearing live concert versions of it made my opinion do a complete 180° spinaroony. Honestly, for a LOT of Gorillaz songs - especially those off of _Humanz_ - the live concert versions sound WAY better and are way more energizing and enthralling and intensive than the studio album versions. And fortunately on 23 September, 2022 I will be able to go to The Los Angeles Forum and see for myself how much better it is to see and hear Gorillaz perform live when you're actually physically there in person in the same room as them versus seeing and hearing them perform live via a livestream or a KZsection video or a .FLAC file etc etc etc. Hearing them play _Cracker Island_ in person is no doubt gonna give me goose-plimples in places I didn't know pleople could get goose-plimples.

I wasn't sure how I was gonna feel about this song, but I love Thundercat so I decided to give it a try. I didn't think much of it until like 45 seconds in when the bass kicked in, then I was hooked! Gorillaz never miss. 👊

I remember when I was a kid and my dad introduced me to Gorillaz through the song Clint Eastwood (and I instantly fell in love with it).. it's so crazy that you still make music and that it still sounds great! I feel (good inc😂) like Gorillaz isn't even a band anymore, it's an experience that almost everyone will have at some point in their lives! And that is awesome!

@phi latio17 Just because the titular Song Machine hasn't been used in promos doesn't mean Song Machine Season 2 isn't happening. There are a zillion potential explanations for that. It always baffles me how so many Gorillaz fans (of all people GORILLAZ fans) seem to be so lacking in imagination or creativity and are so overly rigid and hyper-literal in terms of how they think about stuff like this. Season Two of Song Machine doesn't even need "THE" Song Machine anyway (the fucking thing didn't even appear in ANY episodes of Season One or any promotional ads - it was only seen in the album artwork). All "Song Machine Season Two" needs to be is Season Two of The Gorillaz Show. It's just a name to put on this next batch of Gorillaz songs and music videos.
@phi latio17 No, that was conceptual art. Which is different from storyboards. Concept art is just artwork that filmmakers/animators such as Jamon & Damie cook up to help them pitch their ideas to movie studios. To show them what they intend to create and what it might look like and also to get feedback. In 2001, after Jamie made the art you're talking about and after he & Damon went to DreamWorks to pitch their movie idea, they ultimately decided to not pursue the idea at all because in 2001 the whole entire film & animation industry was completely different and at that time, making a Gorillaz movie would require giving up ALL ownership and rights to the Gorillaz characters & IP to DreamWorks (or whatever studio they might've gone with) as well as a significant degree of creative control and likely final cut too. Which naturally was 100% unacceptable to them. They told news media and fan zines that they really wanted to make a Gorillaz movie (which is where all that fan chatter about a movie over the decades originally came from), but they were very clear that they ultimately decided against signing contracts with ANY studio at the time. So production on a Gorillaz film was *NEVER* underway. All they had was some concept art detailing their idea for a movie in 2001. It wasn't until 2020/2021 that they finally sat down, came to an agreement, and officially signed contracts with a major film studio and officially began pre-production, and then later full production, on a Gorillaz film. Because the film industry in 2020/2021/2022 is VERY different than the film industry in 2000/2001/2002. Thanks in large part to streaming platforms like Netflix. But also the situation for Damon/Jamie/Remi/Gorillaz is very different than it was 20 years ago, due to them being on much more solid footing in terms of their finances, their reputation, and peoples' overall confidence that a Gorillaz film could be successful. Cuz back in 2001 they'd only put out the 1 album (which did well but not like double platinum within months of release or anything) and people still saw Gorillaz as a one-off novelty side-project Damon was playing with in between Blur albums. And this wasn't helped by the fact that they played a handful of Gorillaz concerts behind a giant screen with drawings projected onto it (which fans are nostalgic for now, but back in the day critics really didn't respond very positively to those concerts and Damon didn't really enjoy performing them). In 2001 & 2002 they'd have had a very difficult time convincing any studio to give them total control and trust that the product would succeed. But now after Gorillaz has proven to be a force in the music industry and the art world, after 6 and soon to be 7 successful albums, and now that we're in the age of Netflix and all its bastard offspring desperate for content to throw up on their platforms, making them much less picky about what films to produce than the old studios were 20 years ago (back when funding an animated feature film that wound up flopping at the box office could potentially put a film studio out of business), it is the perfect time for Jamie and Damon to finally realize their dream of making a Gorillaz movie. Which is why in 2020 they finally at long last came to an agreement and signed actual contracts with a studio (Netflix) allowing them to make the film while keeping full creative control and final cut privileges AND ownership of the Gorillaz IP & characters. And now they've been in full production for at least a year. So yeah, this whole thing really isn't comparable to _Celebrity Harvest_ at all. Because *THAT* project literally never even got off the ground. Never even began. *THIS* project, however, has not only begun but has been well underway for a little while now (but actually not very long at all, relative to how long it takes to create an entire animated film - whether it's traditional 2D animation or 3D CGI animation and whether the film winds up being a feature-length 90 minutes aka 1hr & 30mins or just a mere 60 minute/1 hour long romp....this project is a *LOT* more complex and intensive than simply making a music video).

@dildonius Correct me if i’m wrong but, wasn’t the storyboards for the Celebrity Harvest movie back in Phase 2 in the pre-production phase? Sure, we don’t know about any contracts, but we do know they were in talks with dreamworks.
@dildonius Sorry for the late response. Albarn never said he had completed Song Machine Season 2, but that he had some songs ready for the project. He did say it was gonna be released sooner that expected That being said, the reason why many people are doubtful this new album is part fo Song Machine is that the Song Machine itself that was a crucial part of the marketing the first time around hasn’t even been referenced in the new album cycle. Even in the Static Channel teaser itself the Machine wasn’t referenced or seen. Hell, considering Gorillaz keeps showing new material with the hashtag “The Last Cult” we don’t even know if “The Static Channel” is still the album’s name. That being said, is still in the open. It could be song machine season 2, but so far, besides Albarn’s original comments from 2 Years ago, we’ve got no evidence it’s part of Song Machine . It still could be part of the project, but we haven’t gotten official confirmation in this album cycle. Considering how much Gorillaz’ projects change during development (Like Carnival turning into Plastic Beach), it could be a similar situation. Still, i wouldn’t be surprised if it’s song machine season 2, just saying it’s not even confirmed.

@iownu92 Really? Cuz _Sleeping Powder_ came out waaaaay back on 08 June, 2017. Shortly after the release of _Humanz._ An exclusively digital release with no A-Side or B-Side. Just the song itself. But yeah, I did forget about that one standalone release. However, _Sleeping Powder_ was kind of a unique situation that only occurred due to the sheer number of dickheaded """fans""" ceaselessly bitching that _Humanz_ didn't sound like a carbon copy of _Gorillaz_ or _Demon Days_ or _Plastic Beach._ From Wikipebia, The Free Encyclerpædia: _"Sleeping Powder_ was the first song to be recorded and released after the release of _Humanz._ Through deliberate design & in contrast to _Humanz,_ it doesn't feature any musical collaborators. Damon Albarn explained this decision: '2-D felt maybe he was unrepresented on _Humanz._ It wasn't a problem, but maybe he was a bit too generous, you know? So he thought he'd do a song just by himself, and make a video just with him, and not tell anyone else.' _Sleeping Powder_ was written only three days before its June 08 debut, and its video was completed 1 day prior to release. To facilitate such a speedy turnaround for a music video, motion capture (provided by Albarn himself) was used for 2-D's animation. Backgrounds were largely composed of assorted stock footage."
